The Balter Brewing Co. is only new to the scene, but their Head Brewer Scott already has a number of brewery awards under his belt. Balter – meaning to dance artlessly, without particular skill or grace, but usually with enjoyment, is the very definition this brewery is built on. Everything they do is based on this premise of having fun, bringing friends together, and putting your taste buds first.
They have three main foundation beers, but if you visit for a tour you’ll be able to taste limited release brews, speciality tastings and more. Located in the heart of Currumbin, you can visit Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons – no need to book, just walk in! Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
If you’ve never cuddled a koala before, you’re in for a treat! Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary offers Koala cuddles and professional photos of your experience every day. There are only two states in Australia that offer koala cuddles, and we are lucky enough to be in one of them. It’s truly a unique experience to be up close and personal with such an iconic creature.
While you’re at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary you can also hug an echidna, feed the lorikeets or pat a kangaroo. Watch a bird show, or if you’ve ever wanted to see a quokka (known for their infectious smiles) you can meet Rocket the resident quokka – he can be found in the wombat enclosure!
Spend the afternoon wandering around seeing all of our native animals and learning about our native fauna. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous you can take a Segway tour or challenge yourself with the Tree Top Challenge – a high ropes course that’ll get your adrenaline pumping.
