Surf World – Honey World – Coolangatta Arts & Crafts -O’Reillys

Kirra Beach is the perfect place for your next Gold Coast holiday, relaxed, beautiful, minutes to the airport, and has everything you could need to create memories you’ll remember. For the surfing fans and history buffs, why not check out the Surf Museum? Or if you’re looking for something a little different to add to your next holiday, visit Honey World or go for a walk along the suspension bridge in the rainforest up at O’Reillys. For a lazy day by the beach, markets are always a winner, and the Coolangatta Art + Craft markets are just minutes from Kirra Beach. Kirra is host to dozens of restaurants, and some of the most gorgeous coastline on the GC, and it’s still just a short drive to everything the coast has to offer.

Surf World
The Gold Coast is known for it’s surfing, with one of the biggest surf comps in the world happening on one of our own beaches. But did you know, it’s also home to our very own surf museum? Located opposite the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is Surf World. Whether you want to see a history of the design and technology used in surfing, want to explore how surf culture has evolved or even check out Australia’s largest collection of surfboards – this is the place to be. If you’re a surfing enthusiast or have a budding surfer on your hands – you definitely have to check out Surf World on your next trip.

They are open from 10-5pm daily, to find out more you can visit their website here: http://www.surfworldgoldcoast.com/

Honey World
If you’re looking for something a little different for your next trip, why not check out Honey World. Located adjacent to Surf World, come and experience the wonderful world of bees. Whether you are a sweet tooth or just curious about the incredible process from flower to honey, it’s worth checking out. You can watch bees producing honey in the hive, and hear from their professional beekeepers as they explain the entire process from start to finish.

You can even visit the store afterwards and taste the difference between honeys made from different flowers and bees. There is also a range of honey products such as honeycomb, bee pollen and even a range of honey-based cosmetics for sale. It’ll definitely add something unique and memorable to your holiday.

Coolangatta Art & Craft Markets
If you’re lucky enough, you might end up visiting Kirra when the Coolangatta Art + Craft Markets are on. They have been running for over 30 years, and are loved by locals and tourists alike. Whether you’re looking for handmade crafts, gifts for family and friends back home (or even yourself), vintage clothing, perfumes, flowers, tasty treats or just want to explore – you’ll enjoy the day wandering through the stalls.

They don’t run every weekend though, so be sure to check out their website to see dates first: http://www.artandcraft.com.au/App_Content/public/calendar.aspx

O’Reillys Tree Top Walkway
Perhaps you’re keen for a drive, in which case you’ll have to head up to O’Reillys for their Tree Top Walkway and maybe a little bit of lunch or some fresh scones. It is a little bit of a drive– but the views are really (O’Reilly) worth it. The walkway is made up of a series of suspension bridges and allows you to see the rainforest from 15m above the ground. You can also stop and climb to the observation decks about half way through this short (180m) walk. The two observation decks were constructed in a Strangler Fig above the walkway, with the highest one about 30m above the ground. The views are simply spectacular and the sensation is like sitting in a National Geo encounter (or maybe David Attenborough)
