Family Getaways – School Holidays – Top 5 Restaurants and Cafes around Kirra

The Gold Coast is a wonderful place to visit during the school holidays, and the upcoming June/July break is no exception. Although the weather is cooler, the beaches are still as beautiful as ever, and most days are still great for a swim or a beach walk.

It’s the perfect weather to check out any of the four major theme parks, to visit the national parks, or go for a wander through Mt. Tamborine – don’t forget to pick up some freshly made fudge while you’re there.

You could also check out the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, take a tour of the park on seaways, watch a wildlife show, challenge yourself on the ropes course, feed the lorikeets or cuddle a koala. Our stunning region really is the perfect destination for the whole family.

Perhaps you can check out Mary Poppins the Musical at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. It will be showing from June 17 to 25 – kick back and breathe it in as this classic tale is brought to life.

Otherwise, If you’re up for a little bit of a drive, you could go and visit O’Reillys for a relaxing walk through the rainforest. Stroll the rainforest canopy on a suspended bridge, climb the tree ropes and look out over the hinterland for a spectacular view

When you finish the day’s adventures, there’s an amazing array of dining options within a skip and a hop when you stay with us at Kirra Beach Apartments. Here are some of our favorite nearby hangouts:

The Black Sheep Espresso Baa is the perfect coffee house for breakfast or lunch. The service is wonderful, the coffees are large (you can even order a bowl!), and they’ll even offer a picnic blanket to enjoy your food on the beach.
‘The Michael’ is their specialty, and well worth checking out – after all, who doesn’t like runny poached eggs, a spot of avo on toast and some of the best bacon this side of Byron? Regardless, there’s heaps more on offer at this cruisy, comfy little locale. Located on the Coolangatta esplanade you can sit and enjoy your meal or a coffee, while watching the ocean and the hustle and bustle of this iconic street.
